The founder of solar photovoltaic cell manufacturer Sunpower might be retired now, but his legacy continues to live on. Started in 1985, Sunpower has been at the forefront of solar technology for more than three decades. Perhaps more interestingly than launching Sunpower, Richard Swanson is also credited with creating Swanson’s Law, which is often compared to the better-know Moore’s Law. Swanson’s Law states that for every doubling of solar panel industry capacity, the price of solar cells will drop by 20%. His predictions hold water, with the price solar continuing to decline.
